Learning material sources

Learn more about the four different types of learning material sources.

Updated over 2 months ago

There are four different types of learning materials based on the source of the material.

External website

This source type refers to any content that can be accessed via a URL. This includes both publicly available platforms and websites, such as YouTube, Spotify or blogs, as well as restricted access areas like SharePoint, Google Drive, Confluence, Notion, your company's intranet, and more.

When learning materials are linked to an external website, they are typically displayed within the learning path as a content card, featuring a button to open the link. Here's an example:

For YouTube videos, the content is directly embedded into the learning path, allowing learners to watch without leaving the platform, providing a smooth and uninterrupted learning experience.

Similarly, an audio player is embedded into the learning path to let learners listen to Spotify podcasts directly within the edyoucated platform.

Note: Make sure learners have the appropriate access rights for external content. For example, in some organizations access to YouTube is being blocked by an internal firewall.

Note: Certain file types will be embedded directly, allowing learners to view the content within the learning path. Others will require downloading and must be opened locally on the user's computer.

SCORM file

Upload SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) files that you have created yourself or obtained from third-party providers. SCORM files will be embedded directly into the platform to ensure a seamless learning experience for your learners.

Note: If you already have partnerships with content providers and wish to create content within edyoucated, we're here to help. Feel free to reach out for support!

Formatted text

The formatted text option lets you create and style your own text directly in edyoucated using a built-in text editor. The editor supports the following formatting features:

  • Headings and regular text paragraphs

  • Bold, italic, underline, and strike-through text

  • Numbered and bulleted lists

  • Superscript and subscript

  • Hyperlinks

  • Emojis 😊

  • File uploads

Formatted text is useful for adding introductions, summaries, or conclusions within your learning paths, helping guide learners effectively.
