Examples of use cases

  • Analyze monthly active users for a specific team to measure engagement trends.

  • Export a list of all users with their status and team assignments for compliance or reporting purposes.

  • Track the completion rate of mandatory trainings to ensure regulatory requirements are met.

  • Compare learning time spent in events versus learning paths to optimize training formats.

Accessing the user engagement dashboard

In the main navigation on the left, click on Analytics. You will land directly on the User engagement dashboard.

The dashboard is divided into two main tabs: Overview and All users. The Overview tab provides aggregated analytics, while the All users tab lists all users with detailed attributes.

Dashboard filters

Three filters are available at the top of the dashboard. These filters apply to all data and visualizations in the current view:

  • Date filter: Select the time period for which you want to view data.

  • Team filter: Filter data by specific teams within your organization.

  • User role filter: Filter data by user roles, for example, to exclude admins (owners) and focus on learners (members).

All active filters are considered in the data displayed and in any exports or downloads.

Overview tab

The Overview tab is structured into several sections, each focusing on a different aspect of user engagement. Each section contains KPIs and visualizations to help you analyze trends and activity.

Active users

This section provides insight into user activity levels.

KPI

Description

Users

Number of users with status Activated or Not yet activated.

Monthly active users

Number of users who have been active at least once in the last 30 days.

Weekly active users

Number of users who have been active at least once in the last 7 days.

Daily active users

Number of users who were active on the most recent day.

A time series chart below the KPIs visualizes the development of these metrics over time on a daily basis.

Note: A user is considered an active user if she

  • started at least one material OR

  • completed at least one material OR

  • started at least one question OR

  • created/updated at least one user skill (e.g. by answering a self-assessment question) OR

  • signed up for an event/journey OR

  • canceled participation in event/journey

within the analyzed time frame.

Learning time

This section tracks the total time spent learning and the impact of personalization on learning efficiency.

KPI

Description

Hours learned

Total number of hours spent learning on the platform.

Hours saved through personalization

Total number of hours saved by learners who were able to skip content in adaptive learning paths due to prior knowledge.

A bar chart visualizes hours learned per week, broken down by learning type:

  • Hours learned (learning path): Time spent in learning paths.

  • Hours learned (event): Time spent in events.

Learning paths

This section provides metrics on the usage and completion of learning paths.

KPI

Description

Learning paths started

Number of learning paths that have been started by learners.

Learning path completion rate

Percentage of started learning paths that have been completed.

Average learning path progress

Average progress (in percent) made by learners in all started learning paths.

A bar chart shows the number of learning paths started per week.

Note: The average learning path progress often gives a more accurate representation of learner success than the completion rate alone. While the completion rate only accounts for learners who finish 100% of the path, the progress metric reflects overall engagement and progress, even if the course isn’t fully completed.

For example, let's say ten learners start a learning path with a total duration of 50 minutes. On average, each learner completes 40 minutes, but none finish the entire path. Despite this positive engagement, the completion rate remains at 0%. However, the average learning path progress is 80%, offering a clearer and more meaningful insight into learner activity and success.

Mandatory trainings

This section focuses on mandatory trainings. Only trainings that do not have the status Draft are included.

KPI

Number of mandatory trainings (excluding drafts).

User assignments

Registrations

Attendances

A bar chart shows the number of events, registrations, and attendances per week (based on event start date).
