Skill experts dashboard

Find and compare experts by skills and certificates, filter results, and analyze ratings in the skill matrix

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The skill experts dashboard helps you find users with specific skills and analyze their ratings as well as viewing user certificates. It contains three tabs: Expert search (focused search with filters and averages), Skill comparison (compare complete rated skill sets of users), and Certificates (analyze user certificates).

Who can use this feature?

  • Available for users with role Owner.

Accessing the skill experts dashboard

In the main navigation on the left, click on Analytics. Then, click on Skill experts to open the skill experts dashboard.

Tabs overview

The dashboard contains three tabs that serve different purposes. Use Expert search to find experts for a defined subset of skills, Skill comparison to compare complete skill sets of users who have rated at least one skill, or Certificates to analyze user certificates.

  • Expert search: Use powerful skill/profile filters to find experts for a defined subset of skills. The dashboard calculates an average score for each user based the selected skills and shows it in the column headers.

  • Skill comparison: Compare complete skill sets of users who have rated at least one skill. Only three filters are available (User name, User status, Team). No scores are calculated.

  • Certificates: List and filter user certificates (platform‑issued and external uploads) at user level. Use it to analyze certificate status, types, categories, and dates across teams.

Prerequisites and important considerations

  • Skill ratings required: Only users and skills with at least one rating are displayed in the skill matrix. If a skill has not been rated by any user, it will not appear in the table. Similarly, users who do not have any ratings will not be shown.

  • Rating source priority: Data shown in matrices and lists prioritizes self ratings. If none exist for a given user–chapter, the system displays the manager rating for that combination, if available.

  • Team filter behavior: When filtering by team, only users within the selected teams who have at least one skill rating will be displayed.

  • Skill and chapter structure: All ratings are associated with chapters within skills. The skill matrix displays the skill title followed by the chapter title, separated by a colon.

Using the expert search tab

Examples of use cases

  • Project staffing: Select a skill profile and/or skills to find users best suited for a new project.

  • Individual skill development: Identify users with lower ratings in certain skills for targeted training initiatives.

  • Compliance staffing: Use the Certificate filter to surface users who have completed required training before assigning them to projects.

Available filters

This section describes the filters on the Expert search tab. Seven filters are available at the top of the dashboard.

  1. Skill profile: Select one or more predefined skill profiles. When you choose a skill profile, all skills and chapters included in that profile are considered in the analysis.

  2. Skills (Priority): Choose specific skills that are most important for your analysis. These are highlighted as priority skills in the skill matrix and are marked with a star icon. For each selected skill or chapter, set the minimum level learners must have to be shown (levels 0–5). Users below the threshold are hidden.

  3. Skills (Nice-to-have): Select additional skills that are relevant but less critical than the priority skills. These are included in the analysis but are not highlighted as priority.

  4. User name: Filter the matrix to display only selected users. This is useful for focusing on a specific subset of users.

  5. User status: Filter users by their platform status (Activated, Not yet activated, Deactivated). By default, Deactivated users are deselected.

  6. Team: Filter by one or more teams. This allows you to quickly select multiple users without having to choose each user individually.

  7. Certificate: Filter by certificate type to include only users who have had a certificate of the selected type. Certificate types are managed by organization owners under Administration → Certificate types. Learn how to manage certificate types.

Note: The Certificate filter checks whether the user ever had a certificate of the selected type. Validity dates are not considered.

How the filters work together

At least one of the following filters must be set for data to appear in the dashboard:

  • Skill profile

  • Skills (Priority)

  • Skills (Nice-to-have)

Certificate, User name, User status, and Team are optional refinements and do not replace the requirement to select a skill profile or skills. If none of the required filters are set, no data will be displayed in the skill matrix or user list.

Understanding the skill matrix

This section applies to the Expert search tab. The skill matrix is the central component of the dashboard, providing a detailed overview of user ratings for each skill chapter. The structure is as follows:

Attribute

Description

Skill

Displays the skill name, followed by the chapter title (e.g., "Account Management: Client Needs Analysis"). Priority skills are marked with a star icon and listed at the top.

User columns

Each column represents a user who matches the filter criteria and has at least one skill rating. The column header shows the user's average score (e.g., "Ø 1.31 - Paulina Braun").

Cells

Each cell shows the user’s rating for the corresponding skill chapter. By default, the self rating is shown. If no self rating exists for a user–chapter, the manager rating is displayed, if available. Ratings range from 0 to 5.

Sorting and user list details

This section applies to the Expert search tab.

  • User column sorting: User columns in the matrix are sorted from left to right by the average score for the selected skills and chapters. The user with the highest average score appears on the far left.

  • User list sorting: The user list on the right is sorted in descending order by average score. The user with the highest average is at the top. You can change the sort order by clicking on the column headers (for example, to sort by last skill update)

  • Accessing user profiles: Clicking a user name in the list opens the user's profile in a new browser tab, allowing you to view more detailed information about their skills and ratings.

  • Date columns: The user list includes Last self rating update and Last manager rating update. Both columns are sortable and help you find recent rating activity.

How average scores are calculated

This section applies to the Expert search tab. The average score for each user is calculated based on their ratings (self-assessment if available, otherwise manager-rating,) for the selected skills and chapters. The score ranges from 0 (all relevant chapters rated as 0) to 5 (all relevant chapters rated as 5).

Using the skill comparison tab

Examples of use cases

  • Comparison of users: Select two or more users to compare their entire skill sets.

  • Team skill analysis: Filter by team to assess the skill levels within a specific group.

Available filters

The Skill comparison tab supports exactly three filters: User name, User status, and Team. No skill- or certificate-related filters are available, and there is no minimum level or priority star logic.

Sorting and user list details

This section applies to the Skill comparison tab.

  • User column sorting: User columns in the matrix are sorted alphabetically in ascending order by user name.

  • User list sorting: The user list on the right is sorted alphabetically in ascending order by user name. You can change the sort order by clicking on the column headers (for example, to sort by last skill update).

Key differences to Expert search

  • Skill comparison always shows the full rated skill set of users; Expert search focuses on a chosen subset of skills.

  • Skill comparison has only User name, User status, and Team filters; Expert search offers seven filters and requires selecting a profile or skills.

  • Skill comparison does not calculate or display average scores in headers; Expert search does.

Using the certificates tab

User certificates table

Each row represents one certificate attached to a user. Columns include:

  • Name: User's full name.

  • Email: User's email address.

  • Status: Valid or Revoked.

  • Certification type: The certificate type selected or issued.

  • Category: The activity category (Learning path, Event, Journey) or External (as maintained via certificate types).

  • Issued by: Issuer of the certificate.

  • Issued on: Date filter for issuance date.

  • Expires on: Date filter for expiry date (if available).

Note: The Certificates tab lists both external certificates uploaded by users and certificates issued for learning paths, events, and journeys. For an issuance‑management view (revoke, download, etc.), use AdministrationCertificates.

Available filters

  • User name: Filter by user.

  • Team: Filter certificates for users in selected teams.

  • Status: Valid or Revoked.

  • Certificate type: The user‑selected type (for external uploads) or the defined type for issued certificates.

  • Category: Learning path, Event, Journey, or External (as maintained via certificate types).

  • Issued by: The issuer (e.g., edyoucated or an external provider).

  • Issued on: Date filter for issuance date.

  • Expires on: Date filter for expiry date (if available).
