  • Available on Desktop

Accessing the skill management section

To manage skills, click on Skill management in the navigation menu on the left side of the platform. This will open the Skill taxonomy section.

Understanding the skill taxonomy

The skill taxonomy is a structured representation of skills, organized into different levels of granularity: skills, chapters, and atoms. You can learn more about the concept of skill taxonomies here.

Note: Within the skill taxonomy, we call the individual elements items (skills, chapters, and atoms).

Viewing options

You can choose between two viewing options in the top right corner of the page to display the skill taxonomy:

  1. List view: Displays all skills in a tabular format, showing various levels of granularity.
    โ€‹

  2. Tree view: Displays skills hierarchically, allowing you to expand and collapse different levels, similar to a computer folder structure.

Tip: While the tree view provides a better visual overview, the list view is mainly suitable for applying the various filters.

Searching the skill taxonomy

To efficiently locate skills within the skill taxonomy, utilize the search functionality available in both the list view and tree view. The search field is located at the top left of the interface. Enter a search term, such as "Agile Management".

  • In the list view: Skills, chapters, or atoms with titles matching or containing the search term will appear in the list view.

  • In the tree view: All skills matching the search term will be displayed. Skills with chapters or atoms matching the search term will also appear, even if the skill itself does not directly match. When a skill/chapter is expanded, chapters/atoms matching the search term are highlighted, while non-matching chapters/atoms are grayed out.

Filtering the skill taxonomy

Enhance your search results by applying various filters available in both the list and the tree view.

List view filters

  1. Quick filter: Distinguish between skills, chapters, and atoms using the quick filter options.

  2. Advanced filter:

    1. Click the Filter list button to open a window with additional filtering options.

      • Taxonomy levels: Choose from skills, chapters, or atoms.

      • Language: Filter by language, such as German or English.

      • Curated by: Display items curated by specific organizations or your own.

      • Created by: Filter items created by specific users.

      • Last updated by: Filter items last updated by specific users.

    2. Apply filters by clicking Apply filters.

    3. Optional: Reset filters using Reset Filters.

Tree view filters

In the tree view, a quick filter at the top right allows you to display only skills owned by your organization. By default, this filter is inactive, showing all active skills, including those from the out-of-the-box taxonomy provided by edyoucated (only if it's activated in your organization).
